Artist Statement
Welcome, I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at my photography.
I’d like to take you into the world behind the camera lens. It is a journey to find rare beauty around us, that moment in time when we see that one shot that makes us go Wow! This is a look through the camera, through my eyes. It is my hope that these photographs will arise in you a desire to see the world in a different light and to instill in you a deep respect for the beautiful creation around us.
It is exciting to see a new generation of photography that is inspiring more people to experience the outdoors and to take incredible photographs like never before. The digital age before us allows us for the first time to overcome many of the technical challenges that has made photography complicated in the past. Now almost everyone can experience and communicate their own experiences and feelings through photography.
Without a doubt it is an inspiring time to be landscape artist and a photographer!
I believe that landscape photography can be experienced in full by the quality of a photograph, making it your own art as it were and in effect my goal is to evoke an emotional response, to reach the viewers heart. This is not an easy thing to do as each picture will evoke different emotions in each person. No tool, no camera is perfect. Nor is the person behind it.
Yet I have found that if we are patient, that moment in time will come where nature reveals itself it all its glory. Many of my photographs are simply one or two shots that have been at that right moment and others have taken months to get to the right location, to the right light.
Thus, our cameras if used properly with timing and training can be that tool to achieve that final result that makes us all go 'WOW'!
The images you see here have reached my heart and I hope it evokes the same response in you. Most of all I hope it encourages you to enjoy the outdoors and never be afraid to explore the world around us and of course to take your own camera out and experience it all from behind the lens!
